Biodiversity Action Plan

The Viranşehir-Ceylanpınar Integrated Solid Waste Facility Project in Şanlıurfa will be implemented under the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey (FRIT). This important project will be financed by a loan provided by the French Development Agency (Agence Française de Développement, AFD), while İller Bankası A.Ş. (İLBANK) will assume the local implementation responsibility of Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality.
The Project has been reviewed based on the 2018 World Bank Environmental and Social Framework, guidelines, performance standards and best practice guidelines, together with the national legal framework to consider environmental and social risks. The impacts and related corrective measures identified accordingly are detailed in the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Report dated 28/07/2023.
A Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) has been developed based on the assessment in the ESIA Report to ensure that biodiversity areas and species related to the Project are minimally impacted. In this context, 2U1K is responsible for conducting baseline studies and preparing the Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) for the Project.
